Finally, after a long wait and enough hurdles, Siva Karthikeyan’s Parasakthi hit the screens today. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film has Sreeleela, Ravi, Atharva Murali and others in lead roles. Produced by Akash Bhaskaran, the film is released in Tamil and Telugu languages.
Plot:
The story takes place during the 1960s, when there was a lot of anger against the usage of Hindi in Tamil Nadu. It all began when a young man named Shiva Karthikeyan started spreading awareness on the unfairness and exploitation in politics and society around him. His personal life and ideologies are put to the test as protests build and tensions rise. The movie seeks to explain how regular people were affected back then and how language became a strong sign of who you are.
Performances and analysis:
Sivakarthikeyan gives a real and controlled performance. He does a good job with emotional scenes, which demonstrates that he is a mature actor. Ravi Mohan is an important part of the political scene, but his character isn't very deep because the writing isn't very good. He does a good job with the screen time he gets, but the role doesn't feel finished. Sreeleela doesn't have a lot to do in the plot, and most of it is about love, which doesn't add much to the story. The supporting performers do a good job, but most of the roles aren't well developed.
Technical parts:
The movie's best feature is how it looks. The costumes, settings, and production design do a great job of bringing back the feel of the 1960s. The cinematography makes the movie look old-fashioned and authentic. But the editing could have been better because some sequences felt too long. G. V. Prakash Kumar's music is only okay. The background music doesn't always fit the emotional weight of the situations, and it doesn't make important moments more powerful.
Analysis:
Parasakthi has a solid point and an essential message, but it doesn't do a good job of getting it over. The screenplay doesn't do a good job of showing how deep the movement is emotionally. Many situations feel like they are happening over and over again, and problems are solved too quickly. The second part gets long and boring, which lessens the total effect. It seems like the movie squandered a chance to be a strong political drama.
The verdict:
Parasakthi is a movie that means well and has good acting, notably from Sivakarthikeyan. But the plodding pace, bad writing, and lack of emotional intensity make it boring to watch. People who like history and politics could like it, but it doesn't fully engage a general audience.
