Cinema lovers across India have a big reason to celebrate. After 47 long years, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth — two of the most iconic names in South Indian cinema — are finally coming together on screen again.
Tentatively titled KH X RK, the film has already created a wave of excitement, and the recently released promo video has only made fans more impatient for what promises to be a historic reunion.
The promo begins on a light-hearted note, showing director Nelson Dilipkumar pacing nervously down a corridor. His dilemma? Deciding whether to knock on Rajinikanth’s door first or Kamal Haasan’s.
The moment feels relatable and amusing — after all, how does one choose between two legends? Just then, composer Anirudh Ravichander walks in, wrestling with his own creative confusion as he asks which raaga to pick. Holding up two fingers, he suggests the age-old solution: “pick one when in doubt”.
Inspired by this simple trick, Nelson Dilipkumar decides to use the same method to solve his far bigger problem. What follows is a playful montage where he helps both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth get ready, confidently — and hilariously — mixing up their belongings.
From wrongly assigning shoes to misplacing accessories, his earnest mistakes only add to the comedy, while the two superstars grow increasingly exasperated.
The tone then shifts from humour to pure cinematic magic. In a dimly lit garage, their looks are revealed with style and attitude.
Kamal Haasan takes the driver’s seat of a waiting car, Rajinikanth settles beside him, and together they radiate effortless charisma. As they turn towards Nelson Dilipkumar and ask, "who is the hero?", the moment lands perfectly — playful, powerful, and loaded with nostalgia.
Earlier, the makers had unveiled a poster soaked in vintage charm. Featuring two leather-clad figures adorned with a gold watch and ring, it pays tribute to their timeless swagger. The tagline reads, “Some men set rules, some men rule.”
Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth last shared screen space in Alauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum in 1979, though their earlier collaborations — including Apoorva Raagangal, Avargal, Moondru Mudichu, and Pathinaru Vayathinile — remain cherished classics.
With Nelson Dilipkumar directing and Anirudh Ravichander composing the music, KH X RK feels less like just another film and more like a celebration decades in the making.
