Prominent members of the Nandamuri family gathered at NTR Ghat in Hyderabad early on Sunday to pay tribute on the 30th death anniversary of the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), the iconic actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Actor Kalyanram Nandamuri, grandson of NTR, arrived at the memorial before sunrise and offered floral tributes at the site dedicated to his grandfather’s memory. The commemoration also saw the presence of Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh minister and political leader, along with other family members and supporters, highlighting the deep respect that followers and relatives continue to hold for NTR’s contributions to cinema and public life.

Visuals from the memorial show Kalyanram’s security team grappling with crowd control as the actor offered prayers and laid a wreath at the site. Guards were seen trying to restrain people keen on clicking pictures during his tribute, as fans surged forward to capture the moment, creating a tense atmosphere that made it difficult for the actor to find a calm space to pay his respects.

Another clip captures Kalyanram urging people to step back as he sat on the ground to offer his respects. Despite repeated requests, his security team struggled to control the crowd, and at one point, a fan tried to touch the actor’s feet before being gently escorted away.

The overwhelming enthusiasm of the supporters, though sincere, left little room for Kalyanram to observe a quiet moment of reflection.

Organised by the NTR Trust, the event also featured a photo exhibition celebrating NTR’s prolific career in both film and politics, tracing his journey from a celebrated actor in Telugu cinema to a towering political figure who founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, widely referred to by his initials NTR, passed away on January 18, 1996, at the age of 72, leaving behind a remarkable legacy that continues to influence cinema and regional politics. The annual tributes at NTR Ghat have become a significant tradition for the family, drawing politicians, film personalities and devotees who honour his memory and impact.
