  • Deepika Padukone quit Spirit after reported pay and profit share demands
  • Tripti Dimri replaced Deepika, reportedly signed for a much lower fee
  • Director Vanga accused Deepika of leaking the film's plot on social media

Actress Deepika Padukone sparked controversy after she quit Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly anticipated film, Spirit, which also starred Prabhas in the lead. Several rumours have sparked since then, teasing the reason behind her exit.

However, a new report has suggested that Deepika was demanding 10% profit share and around Rs 20-20 crore for the film. The actress has since been replaced by Tripti Dimri, who reportedly was signed with a much lower fee, around Rs 4 crore.

According to News18, Deepika Padukone had “demanded Rs 25 crores for approximately 35 days of shoot, along with a 10% profit share."

In addition to the Rs 20 crore demand, the actress reportedly had expensive entourage costs and declined to do Telugu dialogue. In order to spend time with her kid, Deepika, who just became a mother, reportedly insisted that she not shoot for more than eight hours per day.

A source told the outlet, “Contrary to speculation, her restricted filming schedule of under 8 hours a day was never the primary issue. In filmmaking, working hours are fluid and depend on location, lighting, and various technical factors. You could shoot for 2 hours or 8, depending on the scene."

The insider added, “What truly matters is flexibility, collaboration, and respect for the craft. It’s about commitment. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga believes actors speaking their own lines builds authenticity and emotional connect with the audience.”

Previously, filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga accused Deepika of leaking the plot of Spirit. He took to his X (formerly Twitter) and called out the actress, making shocking accusations against her.

He tweeted in May 2025, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA(Non Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you are....”

The filmmaker added, “Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story?  Is this what your feminism stands for ? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it.”

He concluded, “Aisa karo.... Agli baar poori kahani bolna... kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha. #dirtyPRgames.”
