Among all the big films that release every Friday, many small films get ignored and go away unseen. But here is one such film which is different and out of the box. Bad Girlz is a fun movie for young people that mixes friendship, humor, crime, and emotion into a light-hearted ride. Phani Pradeep Dhulipudi (Munna) directed the movie, which relies heavily on its fun factor, the friendship between its four female leads, and a mix of comedy and suspense to attract younger viewers.
Plot:
Bad Girlz is about four close friends—Rosy Reddy, Malleswari, Mercy, and Venkat Laxmi—living in a hostel in Hyderabad. As two of them get ready to get married, the group decides to make the most of their last days together by planning a trip to Malaysia for the single women, with help from their older sister Sravanthi.
What starts out as a fun trip quickly turns into a mess. The friends don't know it, but they're in the middle of a plot by a scary criminal named Anaconda to blow up a bomb and a women trafficking ring that wants to get them. The main point of the movie is how the girls get through these dangerous situations with their brains, luck, and teamwork. This leads to an unexpected emotional turn at the end.
Performances and analysis:
Anchal Gowda, Payal Chengappa, Roshini, and Yashna all play young characters with a lot of energy, and they all get along well. The movie is fun and lively, especially during the travel and hostel scenes, because of how well they work together and how funny they are.
Supporting actors Moin and Rohan Surya make things funnier, and Renu Desai plays a strong role. Raja Ravindra plays a Malaysian cop, Thagubothu Ramesh has a few short roles, and Sravanthi Chokarapu, who is famous for Bigg Boss, plays a key role. They all do a good job within their limited roles.
Technicalities:
Anup Rubens is a great music composer because he makes a lively soundtrack and a good background score that makes both the fun and sad parts of the movie better. The lyrics by Oscar Chandra Bose fit the mood of the movie very well. The film looks great thanks to cinematographer Arli Ganesh, and the locations in Malaysia add to the visual appeal.
A lot of the movie was filmed in other countries, so the production values are better than those of a typical mid-budget comedy. The story itself is pretty standard, but the director's script and humor keep things interesting, especially after the break.
Wha’s good and what’s not:
Music that sticks in your head and an interesting background score. Malaysia sequences that are easy on the eyes. The four female leads have a strong bond and few parts that were really funny. A twist in the climax that makes it more emotional.
Also, the storyline is predictable and routine and the first half was slow and uneven. Some performances have slang and diction that aren't always the same.
Verdict:
Bad Girlz is at its best when it focuses on fun, friendship, and strange situations. It has funny moments and colorful visuals. The movie takes a while to get going, but the second half and the emotional payoff make it a pretty interesting watch. Overall, Bad Girlz is a decent, one-time watch that is perfect for people who want a light, no-frills comedy with a little bit of heart.
