The Red Lorry Film Festival by BookMyShow returns with its upcoming edition, presenting Rendezvous with French Cinema, a specially curated showcase in association with Alliance Française Bombay that brings together the finest of French cinema, celebrating the enduring power and global influence of French storytelling.

The programme features some of France’s most acclaimed recent films, across genres, many recognised by the César Awards and international festivals. Leading the lineup is Case 137, one of the most celebrated French films of the year, earning multiple César nominations including Best Film, Best Director for Dominik Moll, and Best Actress for Léa Drucker. Also screening is The Richest Woman in the World, starring Isabelle Huppert, a prestige drama praised for its commanding performances and awards presence.

Auteur-driven cinema takes centre stage with Quentin Dupieux’s The Piano Accident (L’accident de piano), known for its sharp, unconventional tone, alongside Leave One Day, which was the opening film at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Visually striking and thematically rich films such as Colors of Time (Colours of Time) and Nino, a César-nominated debut, highlight the freshness and emotional sensitivity of contemporary French voices.

The festival also presents deeply human stories exploring identity, love, belonging, and displacement through titles including Pieces of a Foreign Life (L’étrangère), Hint of Love (Une pointe d’amour), You Found Me (L’âme idéale), and The Orphans (Les orphelins). Psychological tension is explored in The Residence (Dalloway), while historical memory and justice come into focus with Furcy (L’affaire de l’esclave Furcy), a powerful examination of human rights and colonial history.

“French cinema has always balanced artistic boldness with emotional depth,” said Ashish Saksena, Festival Director, Red Lorry Film Festival and COO- Cinemas, BookMyShow. “This programme reflects that spirit, bringing together award winning new films, daring voices, and we are grateful to the French Consulate and Alliance Française Bombay for making this possible.” He added.

“French cinema has always been a bridge between cultures, and we are delighted to see these remarkable contemporary works travel to India through the Red Lorry Film Festival. This selection reflects the diversity and vitality of today’s French filmmaking , from bold new auteurs to powerful human stories that resonate across borders.” said Mathieu Bejot, Audiovisual Attaché of the French Embassy in India.

With its carefully curated programme and immersive theatrical experience, the Red Lorry Film Festival once again establishes itself as a premier destination for world cinema in India. It will be held from 13th to 15th of March in Mumbai. Festival passes are now available on BookMyShow.
