Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan gets U/A certificate by CBFC, trailer to release on October 2

The upcoming action film, "Vettaiyan," starring superstar Rajinikanth, has been given a U/A rating by the CBFC. The makers shared the update on social media, heightening anticipation among fans.

The caption read, "The hunt is certified! VETTAIYAN gets the U/A stamp! Get ready for an action-packed extravaganza coming your way! #Vettaiyan Releasing on 10th October in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi & Kannada!"

The film is scheduled for a massive release on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the film, which revolves around a retired police officer's battle against a corrupt system. The film delves into the world of cops and encounter killings, promising a thrilling and action-packed narrative.

Produced by Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan is directed by TJ Gnanavel, and has music by Anirudh Ravichander. The film features and ensemble cast inlcuding Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Kishore, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, GM Sundar, Abirami, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Ramesh Thilak and Rakshan.

The runtime of the film has reportedly been increased to around two hours and 43 minutes. The Censor Board suggested that certain words, such as cuss words and terms like Muslim, Sartharji, Neet, and Doctor, be muted.

Rajinikanth, a renowned actor known for his thought-provoking film choices, was reportedly drawn to the script of "Vettaiyan" due to its significant social implications. This aligns with his recent trend of films that seamlessly blend entertainment with impactful social commentary. Director TJ Gnanavel, acclaimed for his emotionally resonant and meaningful films, appears to have crafted a role that perfectly suits Rajinikanth's return to the silver screen.

Vettiyan holds a unique significance as it marks the reunion of superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth after more than three decades since they last collaborated in the Bollywood classic Hum.

After Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth will be seen next in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
