The Rajinikanth starrer Coolie has stormed into the record books even before its release, with advance bookings that began on August 8 already creating history. The film has clocked an astounding Rs 50 crore in pre-sales, with still four and a half days to go before its grand release.

Coolie has already sold tickets worth Rs 32.50 crore (USD 4.25 million) in the international market, which accounts for a significant portion of this success.

According to industry trackers, the movie may reach Rs 52 crore (USD 6 million) in overseas pre-sales alone before its premiere even takes place, which would be a remarkable accomplishment for an Indian production. The overseas circuit's Day 1 projections, including premieres, fall between USD 7 million and USD 9 million.

Domestically, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are leading the way in first-day advance bookings, which have already reached approximately Rs 14 crore gross. The movie is very likely to have the largest opening ever for a Tamil-language release.

Strong demand is anticipated, and the Telugu markets, like the rest of the nation, have not yet opened their booking counters. After the Telugu and Hindi versions are released, Coolie is expected to reach a global advance booking total of between Rs 85 crore and Rs 95 crore on its first day of release alone. This amount would establish a new standard for Indian cinema.

Coolie, which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, will be released on August 14. The film centres on Deva, a former gold smuggler who decides to get back together with his old gang in order to regain his former glory.

His plan hinges on stolen technology hidden inside vintage golden watches, but the mission triggers a chain of unexpected consequences, setting the stage for high-octane drama and action.
