Punjabi actress Mandy Takhar has filed for divorce from her husband Shekhar Kaushal less than two years after their wedding. The couple moved a mutual divorce plea before the Saket Court in Delhi on Friday, which was allowed by the court. Mandy and Shekhar, who got married in 2024, have reportedly been living separately since last year.

Confirming the development, advocate Ishaan Mukherjee, who represented Mandy Takhar, told news agency IANS that the divorce was granted by mutual consent. He stated that the couple cited personal differences as the reason for their separation. However, the lawyer declined to share any further details, maintaining that the matter was private in nature.

Mandy Takhar has been a familiar face in Punjabi cinema for over a decade and has built a steady career across Punjabi, Hindi, and South Indian films. She moved to Mumbai in the late 2000s to pursue acting and landed her first notable role opposite Punjabi singer Babbu Maan in the 2010 film Ekam – Son of Soil. The film marked her entry into mainstream Punjabi cinema and helped her gain recognition.

Her breakthrough came in 2012 with Mirza – The Untold Story, where she played Sahiba opposite Gippy Grewal. The film was a modern retelling of the classic Punjabi love legend of Mirza-Sahiba and earned Mandy praise for her performance. In 2013, she showcased her comic timing in Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22, starring alongside Amrinder Gill and Yo Yo Honey Singh, which became a popular entertainer.

Mandy also expanded her work beyond Punjabi films. She made her Tamil cinema debut with Venkat Prabhu’s Biriyani, starring Karthi, further widening her reach as an actor. In 2017, she appeared in the acclaimed Punjabi film Rabb Da Radio, which went on to become a major success.

She was last seen in Enna Nu Rehna Sehna Ni Aaunda, a comedy-drama that follows the chaos in a peaceful Canadian neighbourhood after rowdy international students move in next door, leading to a humorous rivalry.

Born and raised in Wolverhampton, UK, Mandy has roots in a small village near Phagwara in Punjab. She moved to London at 17 to study drama at Kingston University before relocating to India in 2009 to pursue acting full-time. Apart from films, she has also featured in popular music videos by Ammy Virk, Jubin Nautiyal, and Yo Yo Honey Singh.
