Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan has spoken up on the Hyderabad stampede case and said that law is equal for all and that the police has to act keeping in mind public's safety.
Pawan Kalyan, who is the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and a leader of NDA ally Janasena Party, lauded Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
He further said that Pushpa 2 actor Allu Arjun should have visited the family of the woman killed in the stampede earlier itself.
Speaking to reporters at Mangalagiri, Pawan Kalyan said: "The law is equal for all. In such incidents, the police act keeping security in mind. However, the theatre staff should have informed Allu Arjun in advance about the situation. Once he sat in his seat, it became harder to manage the chaos."
Allu Arjun had visited Sandhya theatre for the premiere of his movie Pushpa 2 on December 4. It led to chaos in the theatre and a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, died in the stampede and er son was critically injured.
Hyderabad police registered a case against Allu Arjun and he was arrested on December 13 but granted bail shortly.
Pawan Kalyan spoke about how Allu Arjun could have handled the situation, he said: "It would have been better if Allu Arjun had reached out to the victim's family earlier. This could have eased tensions."
Pawan Kalyan, who is also an actor, said his elder brother Chiranjeevi would also attend screenings of his movies. "But he often wore a mask to avoid creating a stir."
Pawan Kalyan, who is Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, was all praise for Telangana Chief Minister Reddy and called him a leader who has risen from humble beginnings.
"Revanth Reddy is a great leader. He didn't do like YSRC. He allowed benefit shows and ticket price (hikes). However, in this case, I am not fully aware of what happened in front of or behind the scenes with Allu Arjun," he said.
Allu Arjun's aunt Surekha is married to veteran actor Chiranjeevi, who is Pawan Kalyan's elder brother.
