Did Ashish Chanchlani just drop first episode of Ekaki, or was it a prank on his fans?

The team behind Ashish Chanchlani’s Ekaki has executed a brilliant marketing masterstroke one that instantly grabbed attention and kept fans buzzing about the series’ highly awaited premiere.

November 26, 2025 / 16:47 IST

Ashish Chanchlani, one of India’s most influential digital creators and a longtime YouTube powerhouse, is now stepping into an exciting new phase of his career. With Ekaki, he makes his directorial debut, and the trailer has already set social media on fire.

The series Ekaki, will be releasing pan-India in five languages, marks a major creative milestone for Ashish. But the buzz escalated even further when he dropped a mysterious video that made many believe the first episode had leaked.

Ashish posted a clip on his social platforms that initially appeared to be an actual scene from the show. Just when viewers thought they were watching the episode, the twist emerged, it was a prank. Ashish appeared moments later, cheekily asking fans to stay patient and wait for the official premiere on November 27 at 2:04.

Though just a prank, the move was undeniably clever, reminiscent of the promotional tactics used during the release of URI. This smart stunt has only intensified the build-up to Ekaki’s debut.

The series itself is a horror-comedy thriller, blending suspense, scares, and humor, elements that perfectly suit Ashish’s signature comic timing and narrative style. Taking on his most ambitious project yet, he serves as the writer, director, producer, and lead actor.
Ekaki also brings together a strong creative team. Alongside Ashish, Kunal Chhabhria joins as Co-Producer, Akash Dodeja plays the Parallel Lead, Jashan Sirwani serves as Executive Producer, and Tanish Sirwani takes charge as Creative Director. With Grishim Nawanii as Co-Screenplay Writer and Ritesh Sadhwani as Line Producer, the project promises a fresh and engaging viewing experience.
