BLACKPINK'S Lisa alias Lalisa Manobal really does seem to be entering an exciting new phase of her career, one that feels both natural and refreshingly bold.
Known to millions around the world as a global pop icon, she is now beginning to carve out space for herself on screen, proving that her ambitions stretch well beyond the music industry.
Her latest project sees Lalisa Manobal attached to a Netflix romantic comedy inspired by Notting Hill, the much-loved 1999 film that paired Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
The new film is written by Katie Silberman, whose work on Booksmart and Set It Up helped redefine the modern rom-com, and produced by The White Lotus executive producer David Bernad, reuniting him with Lalisa Manobal after their recent collaboration.
The story is expected to play with the familiar fantasy of fame meeting normal life, and it is widely assumed Lalisa Manobal will step into the role of the superstar who unexpectedly falls for someone outside her glamorous world.
For Lalisa Manobal, this move feels like a natural extension of a career built on reinvention. Rising to fame as a member of BLACKPINK, she later established herself as a solo artist with immense global reach.
At the same time, she has become a powerful presence in fashion and luxury, representing brands such as Louis Vuitton, Bulgari and Nike, and shaping trends far beyond the stage.
Her acting journey officially began with her debut in the third season of The White Lotus, where her performance was met with genuine praise and curiosity about what she might do next.
Rather than treating acting as a one-off experiment, Lalisa Manobal has spoken openly about wanting to grow in this space, balancing film and television with her music and partnerships.

That ambition is clear in her next major role in TYGO, a Netflix and AGBO film set in the Extraction universe. The action-heavy story follows a former child soldier turned mercenary seeking revenge in Korea’s criminal underworld, with Lalisa Manobal starring alongside Ma Dong-seok under the direction of Lee Sang-young.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Lalisa Manobal told Netflix, “I’m so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors. Being in an action film has always been a dream of mine, and for my first movie role to be in such an exciting action film is a dream come true.”
