FIR fied on Orry

Bollywood influencer Orhan ‘Orry’ Awatramani has found himself at the center of a heated controversy after reports surfaced alleging that he consumed alcohol near the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage site in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with netizens calling for a ban on Orry from visiting the religious town.

Reports indicate that Orry, along with seven others, allegedly consumed alcohol at a hotel in Katra, the base camp for the pilgrimage to the Vaishno Devi shrine. The revelation led to a surge of criticism from users on various social media platforms, with many expressing their anger at what they deemed disrespectful behavior.

One user strongly condemned the act, stating, “HOLY SHRINE AREN’T PARTY ZONES!” Another criticized the group for their actions, adding, “Bollywood’s Orry & friends drinking alcohol and asking for an egg at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, where even onion & garlic aren’t allowed.”

Users further demanded strict action, with a netizen declaring, “Ban him from Katra.” Many pointed out that consuming alcohol in such a sacred place violates religious sentiments, with one person commenting, “Is an insult to Hindu faith!”

Legal Action and FIR Registered

Following the social media uproar, the Jammu and Kashmir police registered an FIR against Orry and the seven others involved. According to officials, the FIR was filed for “violating the law of the land” and for “hurting the sentiments of people.”

A police team has reportedly been set up to take further action against those booked. The incident has not only fueled online debates but has also drawn political reactions, with leaders weighing in on the controversy.

Political Reactions and BJP Leaders Condemn Incident

The incident has attracted political attention, with BJP leaders in Jammu strongly condemning the alleged actions. BJP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia expressed his disapproval, stating, “Orry and his group violated the law of the sacred place.”

Another BJP MLA, Vikram Randhawa, also voiced his concerns, calling the incident “absolutely wrong.” He further emphasized, “I believe strict action should be taken… It’s a disrespect to people’s sentiments. If Katra police have filed an FIR against them, they should make sure that they do not leave Katra until they are punished.”

Debate Over Public Scrutiny and Fame

While the majority of online users called for action against Orry, some defended him, stating that celebrities and influencers face undue pressure to behave ethically at all times.

One user remarked, “Unnecessary pressure to act ethically and morally right every time. If it was someone else, nobody would have cared, but since it’s Orry, it’s news. The same happened with Aryan Khan and Ranveer Allahbadia.”

What Happened exactly

Orry and his friends were charged under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyosa Sanhita for allegedly consuming alcohol within their hotel premises in Katra's Cottage Suite area, despite strict regulations prohibiting alcohol and non-vegetarian food. The Cottage Suite area, located near the revered Vaishno Devi shrine, enforces these rules to maintain the sanctity of the sacred pilgrimage site. The incident gained widespread attention after photos surfaced, showing alcohol bottles on the table, sparking intense backlash on social media. Netizens have condemned the behavior, calling for stricter actions and demanding a ban on Orry from visiting the religious town.
