Navya Naveli Nanda recently revisited the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A), offering a glimpse into a meaningful phase of her life that shaped both her academic and personal journey.

Currently enrolled in the blended MBA programme at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Navya’s return to campus was rooted in reflection and reconnection. Sharing moments from her time at the institute, she described IIM-A as a space that challenged her thinking and pushed her to engage deeply with ideas, people, and perspectives very different from her own. For Navya, the experience has been less about titles and more about discipline, rigour, and learning how to operate in high-pressure environments.

In a recent conversation with Mojo Story, hosted by Barkha Dutt, Navya spoke about how the IIM environment strips away external identity markers. She explained that inside the classroom, everyone is measured by participation, preparation, and performance. That equality, she noted, was both humbling and empowering. Returning to campus reminded her why she chose a demanding academic route despite already being active in business and social initiatives.

The visit also highlighted how Navya balances academics with her growing professional commitments. She is the founder of Project Naveli, a non-profit focused on gender equality, education, and social awareness, and a co-founder of Aara Health, a women’s health-tech platform addressing gaps in menstrual and reproductive care. Her time at IIM-A, she said, has helped her think more structurally about impact, scale, and sustainability across these ventures.

Beyond entrepreneurship, Navya is involved in her family business, Escorts Kubota, where she is learning about legacy organisations, governance, and long-term decision-making. Being back at IIM-A reinforced the importance of grounding real-world experience with strong academic frameworks, something she believes will shape her leadership approach in the years ahead.

Navya also continues to connect with audiences through her podcast What The Hell Navya, co-hosted with her mother Shweta Bachchan Nanda and grandmother Jaya Bachchan. Her recent IIM-A visit, however, brought the focus back to a quieter but significant side of her journey, one defined by learning, self-discovery, and the steady work of building an identity on her own terms.
