Alex Warren broke his silence after a technically troubled performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards, explaining what went wrong on stage and earning praise from fans and celebrities for his composure and resilience.
Alex Warren has spoken candidly about the technical difficulties that disrupted his performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards, turning an awkward onstage moment into a powerful display of professionalism that has since earned him overwhelming support.
During Sunday night’s ceremony in Los Angeles, the 25-year-old singer performed his emotional ballad Ordinary. However, viewers quickly noticed something was off when Warren appeared to struggle with his in-ear monitors. At one point, he pulled one earpiece out and briefly sang half a beat behind the musicians.
Despite the setback, Warren quickly regained his footing, especially during the climactic chorus of the song, which featured him being lifted above the audience on a mechanical stage. Still, the malfunction was hard to ignore, as the singer was later seen letting the in-ear device fall completely while continuing to sing.
Shortly after the performance, Warren addressed the incident on social media. He shared a video explaining the situation, “This would only happen to me.” The clip featured an echo-heavy, distorted version of Ordinary, simulating what he heard through his earpiece. Over footage of himself burying his head in his hands, Warren wrote, “when you’re performing at the Grammys and all you hear is this in your ears...”
The video quickly went viral, with fans and fellow artists flooding the comments with messages of encouragement. One user reassured him, writing, “YOU RECOVERED SO WELL THOUGH HARDLY NOTICEABLE.” YouTuber Trisha Paytas added, “You actually crushed it tho !!!!!!!”
Warren later reposted the video on Instagram, where even more high-profile supporters chimed in. Friends star Courtney Cox commented, “You are sooooo f’ing talented Alex! One moment does not define you!!! Your voice is everything!” Another fan who attended the ceremony wrote, “I was there. We all knew something was going on and it wasn’t you. You were so professional and were still amazing!”
Several musicians close to Warren also voiced their support. Ryan Tedder shared, “U still killed it man- I knew it was happening the MOMENT it started… I’ve been there, experienced it, u crushed it.” Demi Lovato echoed the sentiment, writing, “so impressed - u handled it so gracefully and sounded amazing!”

Mags Duval, who co-wrote Ordinary, praised Warren’s composure, saying, “You handled it like such a pro and sounded absolutely beautiful so proud of you.” His vocal coach, Valerie Morehouse, added, “As we said to you tonight, wasn’t your fault had nothing to do with you. You sang your face off and as your teacher I’m incredibly proud.!! Xxoo.”
Warren was nominated for Best New Artist at the ceremony, alongside names like Addison Rae, Leon Thomas III, The Marías, Lola Young, and KATSEYE. The award ultimately went to British singer Olivia Dean.
