Manoj Muntashir warns Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force makers of legal action over song credit

Lyricist and screenwriter Manoj Muntashir voiced his frustration on X (formerly Twitter) after the Sky Force team neglected to credit him for writing the highly anticipated song Maaye.

On January 7, Manoj took to social media to issue a stern warning to the film's producers – Jio Studios, Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, and Saregama Global – threatening legal action if the oversight is not corrected. His post quickly gained attention, highlighting the ongoing issue of creative rights and credit within the industry. Fans and colleagues alike have rallied behind Manoj, supporting his stance on the matter.

The controversy arose when Jio Studios released the teaser for the upcoming song X, featuring singer B Praak and composer Tanishk Bagchi, but omitted lyricist Manoj Muntashir's name from the brief clip.

While the team did tag Manoj in the caption, the lack of direct credit in the teaser led to his frustration. Manoj, who is known for his meticulous work in the industry, expressed his dissatisfaction online, calling out the makers for overlooking his contribution. The incident has sparked a conversation about the importance of properly crediting all creative contributors in the entertainment industry.

While expressing his frustration, Manoj mentioned, "Please note @jiostudios,@MaddockFilms @saregamaglobal. This song is not just sung and composed but also written by someone who has given all his blood and sweat to it. Removing the writers name from the opening credits shows utter disrespect for the craft and fraternity by the makers. If it’s not corrected immediately, including the main song releasing tomorrow, I am going to disown the song and make sure my voice is heard by the law of the land. Shame. @IPRSmusic (sic),"

Set to release on January 24, just ahead of Republic Day, Sky Force stars Akshay Kumar as an Indian Air Force officer seeking vengeance after the loss of several soldiers. The film also marks the debut of Veer Pahariya, who portrays a fellow IAF officer, while Sara Ali Khan plays his wife. Nimrat Kaur is also part of the cast, adding further depth to the gripping storyline.
