Korean actor Woo Chang-soo dies at 51 after prolonged illness; last social media post resurfaces

South Korean actor Woo Chang-soo passed away on January 16 at the age of 51 after a long battle with illness. Fans were left emotional as his final Instagram post from weeks before his death resurfaced following the news.

Actor Woo Chang-soo passed away on January 16 after a long battle with illness. He was 51.

The funeral rites have already been completed by his family. He was laid to rest at Seoul City Crematorium.

Many fans and co-workers were left in shock after news about his death was revealed, particularly after his last social media message reappeared and attracted fresh attention.

Woo Chang-soo sent a brief update on his personal social media account just two weeks prior to his passing. He disclosed in the article that he had been considering shaving his head because of his ailment.

Woo Chang-soo had shared two pictures on December 29 on his social media and alongside the pictures, he wrote in the caption, “I was thinking about my hair today, I was thinking about class and I was trying to recharge my baritone, so I posted it to the family's single room, and I heard a voice from my little sister and changed it to just cutting pig's hair.”

He added, “After doing my own grooming, I put the sprouts of the sprouts and vomit on my own. I have to take care of my own health. Chang-soo, I have to wake up. Today is the end of my diary..”

The post became his final one. The post featured a picture of his hair and a soup.

Actress Choi Ga-in commented, “I still can’t believe it. You lived a beautiful life. Rest well, my number one,” to mourn him.

In the meantime, Woo appeared in plays and musicals, including Face Off and Welcome to My World. He was the artistic director of the theatrical group Whistle and the director of the theatre ensemble Shinsegye.

As a professor in the Model Acting Arts Department at Seoul Hoseo Arts & Practical School, he was also well-known for his commitment to developing juniors.
