EXO’s D.O. (Do Kyungsoo) has revealed why he will not be able to attend close friend Kim Woo Bin’s upcoming wedding to longtime partner Shin Min Ah, a ceremony many fans had hoped he would participate in by performing the congratulatory song.
In a December 11 interview with SPOTV News, D.O. revealed that professional commitments will keep him away from the ceremony. “It breaks my heart, but I should make it up to (Kim) Woo Bin hyung even more,” he shared candidly.
Kim Woo Bin and Shin Min Ah are set to tie the knot on December 20 at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. However, the date coincides with EXO’s full-group appearance at the 2025 Melon Music Awards, making D.O.’s absence unavoidable.
“It’s only natural. Work is important, and I also believe EXO has to come first. Even though it really pains me not to attend, I need to treat Woo-bin hyung even better. Hyung understands that there’s nothing I can do. Of course we’re both sad, but we completely understand each other, so it’s okay,” he explained.
The singer-actor even shared that he had originally planned to sing “Popcorn” at the wedding, a personal gift he had been looking forward to. But circumstances changed when EXO’s MMA appearance was confirmed.
“I’m thinking hard about what I should do after this. What should I give him? That’s what I’m worried about. I naturally assumed I would be the one singing the wedding song. I knew about hyung’s wedding plans early on. But then EXO got confirmed for MMA, so it wasn’t about choosing. There was simply no option but to do the award show. I worried a lot about how to tell him. We were both really disappointed. I was going to sing ‘Popcorn’ as the congratulatory song. I have no idea who’s singing it now. I’ve been excluded, removed from Woo Bin hyung’s line of sight.”
