BLACKPINK’s Rosé, K-Pop Demon Hunters create history at BRIT Awards 2026

BLACKPINK’s Rosé made history by becoming the first K-pop soloist to earn a BRIT Awards nomination for her hit song APT. The K-pop wave continued as KPop Demon Hunters’ track Golden and its fictional band HUNTR/X also secured nominations, marking major milestones at the BRITs.

BRIT Awards 2026 nominations were recently unveiled on Wednesday, and the K-pop has left a mark. BLACKPINK member Rosé has recently created history, becoming the first K-pop singer to receive a nomination for the 2026 BRIT Awards with her enormously popular song APT.

APT will now compete against artists such as Manchild (Sabrina Carpenter), The Fate of Ophelia (Taylor Swift), and Sailor Song (Gigi Perez) in the International Song of the Year category.

Meanwhile, KPop Demon Hunters’ Ejae, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna's record-breaking song Golden is nominated for the BRIT Awards' International Song of the Year category on Wednesday.

Additionally, the movie's fictional band HUNTR/X has been nominated for International Group of the Year. This is the first animated act to ever compete at the BRITs.

Blackpink member Rose and Bruno Mars' hit song APT, which had previously held the record with 19 weeks at the top of Billboard's Global Excl. U.S. chart has been overtaken by Golden.

Rosé is now the first Korean musician to be nominated for Song of the Year at the three most important music awards in the world: the BRIT Awards for APT, the VMAs, and the Grammy Awards.

Bruno Mars notably received a second nomination in the same category for his earlier collaboration with Lady Gaga, Die With A Smile.

Previously, Golden defeated submissions from Wicked: For Good, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Sinners, and Train Dreams to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.

Additionally, the soundtrack has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year.

The BRIT Awards, commonly known as the British Phonographic Industry's annual popular music honours, outstanding musicians from all around the world. This year's top two nominees are Olivia Dean and Lola Young. Each of the two singer-songwriters has been nominated five times.

Along with other program announcements, the Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year winners will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
