Disney’s Zootopia 2 has recently bagged a spot in the ten highest-grossing films of 2025. The Zootopia sequel is the best of the three, both at the Mouse House and as the highest-grossing Hollywood production of 2025, only surpassed by China's Ne Zha 2. The film has surpassed the record of Frozen 2.
Three Disney films, Lilo & Stitch, Zootopia 2, and Avatar: Fire and Ash, are among the top ten highest-grossing films of 2025 as the year draws to a close.
According to Variety, with $1.46 billion in worldwide box office receipts, Zootopia 2 has surpassed the $1.45 billion earned by Frozen 2 in 2019 to become the highest-grossing animated film ever. The new Zootopia film has generated $333 million domestically and $1.13 billion abroad. With a ranking of more than $500 million, it has been especially successful in China.
The outlet revealed that Zootopia 2 made an astounding $87.9 million in its fifth weekend after opening in theatres on November 26.
Although Frozen 2 had a successful six-year run, Zootopia 2 is now poised to become the most profitable animated film. 17 days after its premiere, it managed to reach $1 billion, making it one of just three 2025 films to do so. The other two are the previously mentioned Ne Zha 2 and Lilo & Stitch, a live-action adaptation of the same-titled 2002 film. I'm curious about Zootopia 2's odds of making $2 billion if it's still performing so well in theatres over a month after people started showing up to see it on the big screen.
Ginnifer Goodwin's Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman's Nick Wilde adjust to being partners at the Zootopia Police Department while pursuing Ke Huy Quan's Gary De'Snake in Zootopia 2, which comes out nearly ten years after the first Zootopia film, yet only a week after those events.
Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Idris Elba, Shakira, Patrick Warburton, and Quinta Brunson are just a few of the other actors in the film. Byron Howard and Jared Bush co-directed and penned the sequel.
