Hollywood star Will Smith has once again worn his love for Bollywood on his sleeve, this time during his visit to Dubai for the Middle East premiere of his upcoming National Geographic series, Pole to Pole with Will Smith.
Known for his curiosity about cultures beyond Hollywood, the actor spoke candidly about his long-standing desire to collaborate with Indian filmmakers and actors, and his hopes of finally being part of a Bollywood project someday.
In a conversation with Gulf News, Will Smith spoke warmly about Shah Rukh Khan, acknowledging his unmatched stardom and global influence. The actor revealed that he has already taken the initiative and reached out to Shah Rukh Khan himself.
“I want Shah Rukh to put me in something, Shah Rukh what's up,” he said, a line that instantly caught fans’ attention and set social media buzzing with possibilities of a future collaboration.
At present, Shah Rukh Khan is busy filming King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film also stars Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone and several others, and is expected to hit cinemas later this year.
While nothing concrete has been announced, Will Smith’s open admiration has once again brought the idea of a crossover project into focus.
Will Smith also reflected on earlier attempts to work with other Bollywood legends. He shared that he had been in discussions with Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the past, but those conversations never resulted in a finished film.

Speaking with honesty and humour, he said, “I was talking to Salman. We had things we were talking about. I was trying to get into something with Big B, you know. He told me I could be Big W, so we were cool - we were sharing the title. There were a couple of things over the years... nothing panned out.”
Away from Bollywood dreams, Will Smith is now gearing up for the release of Pole to Pole with Will Smith, a high-energy series that documents his attempt to push himself physically and mentally across extreme terrains around the world over 100 days.
The National Geographic show promises adventure, vulnerability and inspiration, and is set to premiere on January 13.
