Actor Peter Greene, widely recognised for his chilling performance in Pulp Fiction, was found dead in December 2025. Authorities have now officially confirmed that the cause of his death was an accidental gunshot wound.
On February 18, the New York City Chief Medical Examiner’s Office released its findings, stating that the 60-year-old actor was discovered with a "gunshot wound of left axilla with injury of brachial artery."
Medical experts explain that the brachial artery is the primary blood vessel responsible for supplying blood to the upper arm, elbow, forearm and hand, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Officials ultimately ruled his manner of death as accidental.
Peter became particularly known for portraying intense and often menacing characters. In Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 cult classic, he played the sadistic villain Zed in "Pulp Fiction," a character brought in to torture roles portrayed by Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames. The performance cemented his reputation for playing memorable antagonists.
Beyond Tarantino’s film, Greene also appeared in The Mask, starring Jim Carrey. His other notable credits include the action thriller Judgment Night, the Halle Berry-led suspense drama The Rich Man’s Wife, and the action-comedy The Bounty Hunter featuring Jennifer Aniston.
Peter Greene’s most recent on-screen appearance came in the film Clicka, which was released just last month.

His manager, Gregg Edwards, confirmed that Peter passed away inside his Manhattan apartment. According to the New York Daily News, which was the first outlet to report his death, neighbours in the building began hearing Christmas music playing loudly from Greene’s residence in the early hours of December 10.
When the music continued without interruption, a wellness check was conducted on December 12 — the day he was discovered.
Peter Greene died on December 12, 2025, at the age of 60.
