Former child actor Blake Garrett, who is known for starring in the 2006 film How to Eat Fried Worms, passed away on February 8. He was 33.
Blake’s mother confirmed his death to TMZ. She told the publication that she is unsure of Blake's cause of death and that the family is still awaiting the medical examiner's autopsy results.
According to Carol, Blake, who had spent the last three years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, went to the ER last week after feeling excruciating agony. He was later diagnosed with shingles, she claimed.
After becoming clean in recent years, Blake has been enjoying a happy life in Tulsa, Carole noted.
In the 2004 Barney & Friends special Barney's Colourful World, Live!, Blake made his on-screen debut. He also travelled for 18 months with the live production. He also recalled that children wanted to touch his hair, which was almost white, the most memorable aspect of his worldwide visits.
He told The Oklahoman in 2006, “Some of them had never seen hair my color.”
Blake portrayed Plug in How to Eat Fried Worms, which was adapted from Thomas Rockwell's 1974 children's book. The film told the tale of Billy (Luke Benward), a new student at the school, who bet to eat ten worms after running into bully Joe (Adam Hicks).
The actor shared, “I play the bully’s henchman. But everybody got along on the set.”
Being one of the few people who could ride a bike before the film and getting to "have first pick" from the lines of bicycles on site made filming even more exciting for Blake.

He recalled at the time, “There was one scene where we were riding on a gravel road and got to slide to a stop. The guys who could ride worked on that scene. They had a camera on the ground, and in one scene, I slid and gravel hit the camera. They really liked that shot, and that’s the one they used in the movie.”
Blake and his co-stars won the 2007 Young Artist Awards' Best Young Ensemble in a Feature Film for their work on the film.
