Model, entrepreneur, and Rhode founder Hailey Bieber has shared details of a medical condition she was diagnosed with before conceiving her son, revealing it significantly increased her risk of miscarriage and preterm delivery — though her pregnancy ultimately progressed successfully.

The 29-year-old disclosed a conversation on the SHE MD podcast with co-host and her OB-GYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, where she discussed her journey to motherhood with husband Justin Bieber and how her condition shaped that experience.

Hailey explained that before becoming pregnant with her now 16-month-old son Jack Blues Bieber, she was diagnosed with a uterine septum — a congenital anomaly in which a thin wall of tissue partially divides the uterus. This structural variation can make pregnancy more complicated, and in Hailey’s case, her septum was considered moderate in severity.

Dr. Aliabadi said she had initially advised caution and suggested monitoring the septum closely — and even mentioned the possibility of corrective surgery — before attempting conception. Despite that, Hailey described her eventual pregnancy as a “surprise,” since she had not been actively planning to get pregnant at the time and believed her doctor’s advice meant delaying parenthood.

Once she did conceive naturally, both she and her medical team watched the pregnancy progression carefully, and she expressed gratitude that everything unfolded “luckily” as her body adjusted and accommodated the growth of her child.

“Dr. A kept saying, ‘We need to look at this and keep an eye on it before you get pregnant because it could potentially be an issue,’" she shared.

According to her doctor, this meant she had about a 25–40 % chance of miscarriage and a 10–20 % risk of delivering early, compared with typical expectations for pregnancy without such a condition. “With moderate, you have a higher risk of miscarriage," the doctor said.
