Brooklyn posted a candid statement on his Instagram Stories in January 2026, saying he’d remained silent for years but felt compelled to speak his truth because his parents and their team “continued to go to the press” with what he described as lies to protect their image. He declared that he does not want to reconcile with his family, accusing them of controlling narratives in the media and interfering in his personal life and marriage.
Brooklyn detailed how he believed his parents have tried “endlessly to ruin” his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, whom he married in April 2022. He said the family’s public persona and brand image took priority over genuine support, and that he felt “controlled” for most of his life.
All started with a ‘wedding dress’
Much of the dispute reportedly has roots in Brooklyn and Nicola’s lavish April 2022 wedding. Brooklyn alleged that his mum Victoria, a noted fashion designer, was originally set to make his wife Nicola’s wedding dress but cancelled at the last minute, forcing the bride to find another designer.
"My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped," he wrote. "My mum cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour, despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress."
Victoria has been accused of "ruining" Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding in 2022
Tensions surrounding Brooklyn and Nicola's wedding extended beyond the wedding dress, with notable family dynamics at play. In May 2025, a source revealed to PEOPLE that a significant disagreement erupted when Victoria allegedly took control of a dance at the wedding, despite having a moment planned for Brooklyn and Nicola. This moment was particularly meaningful as the song was performed by Marc Anthony as a special gift to the newlyweds.
Brooklyn also claimed that Victoria “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola at the reception, a moment he described as humiliating.
"Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up , , , Victoria Beckham!' " the source said, adding that Nicola allegedly "felt that Victoria ruined her wedding, and couldn't understand why."
A second source added, "It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock — you could hear a pin drop."
Brooklyn accused his parents of attempting to undermine his marriage to Nicola
On his Instagram Stories on January 19, Brooklyn said his parents attempted to pressure him into signing away rights related to his name before the wedding.
"I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed," Brooklyn wrote.
Brooklyn further claimed that ahead of his wedding, David and Victoria "repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children."
"They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated," he wrote. "My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since."
Now there are reports that Brooklyn is going to remove the tattoo dedicated to his parents adding more fuel to the fire.
Brooklyn was not present for David’s birthday celebration in May 2025 due to family tensions
Since his public post, Brooklyn and Nicola have continued to distance themselves from David and Victoria. They notably skipped David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration, while Brooklyn also removed and covered tattoos previously dedicated to his parents — a symbolic action that many saw as a sign of estrangement.
Despite the rift, David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly made repeated efforts to mend fences, urging Brooklyn and Nicola to meet privately, though tensions persist. Sources told People that the couple have sought reconciliation and still consider Brooklyn their son, even as the feud plays out publicly.
Meanwhile, Nicola’s father, billionaire Nelson Peltz, weighed in publicly, expressing support for his daughter and Brooklyn while advising all parties to “stay the hell out of the press.” He noted that the couple is doing well and hoped for a happy future for them.
Several family members reacted with cryptic posts
Victoria Beckham, amid the dispute, has shared nostalgic memories of happier times with Brooklyn while continuing to focus on her fashion empire. On the other side, several of the Beckham siblings — including Cruz and Romeo — have been drawn into the narrative as social media actions, such as following or blocking each other online, added fuel to the media fire.
Brooklyn removed the tattoo dedicated to his father
In the latest sign of estrangement, Brooklyn has covered up a tattoo tribute once dedicated to his father, David Beckham, marking another painful moment in the dispute. The tattoo was a prominent anchor on his right arm with the word “DAD” and the message “Love you Bust” — a reference to David’s long-standing nickname for his son — all of which has now been lasered off or obscured with other ink. At the same time, he has also had a tattoo dedicated to his mother, Victoria, altered or removed. Sources say Brooklyn chose to remove the tattoos because “there is so much hurt and pain on his side.”
