Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, the spy-comedy film featuring Vir Das in the lead and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, has faced a challenging box office journey in its first few days after release. The movie, which hit theatres on 16 January 2026, opened with a modest Rs 1.25 crore net on Day 1 and followed it up with around Rs 1.6 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.5 crore on Sunday, culminating in roughly Rs 4.35 crore total net collections over the opening weekend.
However, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos witnessed a significant decline in collections on Day 4 (Monday), with gross estimates indicating around ₹0.57 crore and net figures closer to ₹0.48 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk data. The overall occupancy dipped below 10% in many regions, pointing to waning audience interest after the initial curiosity of the opening weekend.
The film has received mixed reactions from viewers and critics, with some appreciating its quirky humour and meta takes on the spy genre, while others felt it lacked the sharp comedic impact expected of such a project. This polarized reception appears to have influenced footfalls, especially during weekday shows where attendance rates were particularly low.
Directed by Vir Das and Kavi Shastri, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos blends action-comedy with a spoof-style narrative, featuring a cast that includes Mithila Palkar, Mona Singh, Sharib Hashmi, and Srushti Tawade. Despite the notable backing of Aamir Khan’s production house, the film’s theatrical performance has fallen short of expectations, and analysts suggest that unless strong word-of-mouth emerges, it may struggle to achieve a significant total run.
