  • Aura V, age 8, became the youngest Grammy winner for Best Children's Music Album
  • Aura and her father Fyütch won a 2026 Grammy for their album Harmony.
  • Their win broke records previously held by Leah Peasall and Blue Ivy Carter

At the 2026 Grammy Awards, a quiet but remarkable piece of history was written. Aura V, just eight years and seven months old, became the youngest Grammy winner ever, marking a rare moment where talent, timing, and family collaboration aligned perfectly. With her very first nomination, Aura walked away with a trophy at music’s biggest night, setting a new benchmark that may stand for years.

Aura V won the Grammy for Best Children’s Music Album alongside her father, Fyütch, for their album Harmony. The father-daughter duo beat out a strong field that included Joanie Leeds & Joya, Mega Ran, Flor Bromley, and Tori Amos. Their win came during the main awards ceremony, making it even more significant for such a young artist.

In doing so, Aura broke a long-standing record. The previous youngest individually credited Grammy winner was Leah Peasall, who was eight years and ten months old when she won as part of the Peasall Sisters for the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Aura also surpassed another modern benchmark set by Blue Ivy Carter, who won her first Grammy at age nine as a featured artist on Brown Skin Girl. Before them, the title had belonged to LeAnn Rimes, who was 14 when she won at the 1997 Grammys.

Aura and Fyütch, whose real name is Harold Simmons II, were visibly stunned by their win. Fyütch is a Maryland-based musician and educator, and their collaboration on Harmony grew organically out of their family bond. The album itself is deeply personal. Fyütch’s father also played on the record, making it a true multi-generational project. Harmony was commissioned by the Wolf Trap Center for the Arts in Virginia, adding a strong educational and cultural foundation to the work.

On the Grammys 2026 red carpet, Aura and her father turned heads in coordinated pastel outfits. They shared that their recent listening included Olivia Dean, Kehlani, and Leon Thomas. During her acceptance speech, Aura gave a heartfelt shout-out to Laufey, congratulating her on winning Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Because of her height, Fyütch had to lift Aura up so she could reach the microphone, a moment that quickly became one of the night’s most endearing visuals.

Despite her historic win, Aura V’s life remains refreshingly normal. She is currently in the third standard at school, balancing homework with studio sessions. For Fyütch, the collaboration has strengthened their relationship beyond music. For the industry, Aura V’s win is a reminder that age is no barrier when creativity is nurtured, supported, and given space to grow.
