
Tamil ZEE5 has kicked off 2026 with clear intent and confidence, doubling down on its promise of gripping thrillers and high-voltage entertainment for Tamil audiences. With a packed pipeline of films and original series, the platform is positioning itself as a destination for intense storytelling and immersive viewing experiences throughout the year.
The momentum was set early with the massive response to the audio launch of Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay. The event translated into the highest first-day subscription spike ever recorded for any ZEE5 content, underlining the audience’s appetite for big-ticket, high-impact titles. This strong start was further reinforced by the encouraging viewership for Kevin’s Mask, signalling that Tamil ZEE5 entered the new year on solid footing.
Building on this energy, Tamil ZEE5 unveiled a special Pongal brand film featuring Jiiva and Andrea Jeremiah. Anchored by the campaign line “ZEE5-il Indha Pongal, Thigil Pongal” (This Pongal on ZEE5 is a thrilling Pongal), the film reinforces the platform’s core promise of suspense-driven entertainment during the festive season.
Set amid a traditional Pongal celebration, the brand film takes a sharp tonal turn when a mysterious incident sparks a tense investigation. Jiiva appears as a focused investigator, while Andrea becomes central to the unfolding mystery. The narrative cleverly balances festive warmth with noir-style suspense, mirroring Tamil ZEE5’s broader content strategy for 2026, one that blends cultural familiarity with genre-driven storytelling.
From this Pongal onwards, Tamil ZEE5 is also rolling out a strong slate of films. This includes the critically acclaimed Sirai, starring Vikram Prabhu and L.K. Akshay Kumar, followed by much-anticipated titles such as Parasakthi, featuring Sivakarthikeyan, Jayam Ravi, and Sree Leela, along with the sequel to the blockbuster thriller Demonte Colony. On the series front, original shows like Samuthirakani’s Partha Naybhagam Illayo and Once Upon A Time In Kayamkulam add further depth to the lineup.
Speaking about the platform’s vision, Lloyd C. Xavier, Business Head – Tamil Malayalam ZEE5 and SVP – Marketing South, said the strong response to recent releases reflects a clear demand for powerful, high-impact stories. He added that the Pongal campaign and upcoming slate mark ZEE5’s commitment to raising the bar for Tamil OTT entertainment.
Jiiva described the collaboration as rewarding, noting that the Pongal film captures both festive spirit and thrill. Andrea Jeremiah echoed the sentiment, sharing that creatively integrating Mask into the campaign made the project especially enjoyable.
