Dominic McLaughlin is all set to take on the role of Harry Potter, which was previously played by Daniel Radcliffe, in the upcoming HBO TV series. However, Dominic has reflected on the first time he sported the Harry Potter outfit, calling it a dream role.
The upcoming HBO series based on J.K. Rowling’s famous books is giving a new generation of actors the chance to join the Wizarding World. For Dominic McLaughlin, who will play Harry Potter after Daniel Radcliffe, it feels like a dream come true.
In his first interview since being cast in May, along with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, the 11-year-old shared how it feels to take on such an iconic role.
In a recent interview with the BBC, Dominic said, “I was always a huge Harry Potter fan when I was younger, and it was like the dream role, of course.’
The young actor recalled putting on the costume for the first time when production began in July and called it "a bit surreal to be honest.” The Scottish actor added, “I’m thrilled to be able to be doing it.”
The production of the upcoming TV series has already started, with the first look at Harry Potter and Hagrid leaked on social media from the set.
The series was originally teased to premiere sometime in 2026 on HBO Max. However, the studio has now confirmed it will release in 2027.

Meanwhile, Alastair Stout will portray Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton will play the role of Hermione Granger in the HBO franchise, which is set to run for a decade.
