Indian actor, producer and environmental advocate Dia Mirza used World Wildlife Day on March 3 to issue a heartfelt appeal for stronger protection of tigers and their forest habitats, highlighting the urgency of conservation and the wisdom that children often show when it comes to caring for nature.
Dia — a long-time campaigner for wildlife protection and sustainability — reminded her vast social media following that saving big cats and forests isn’t just an emotional urge, it’s essential for life on Earth.
Sharing a message from Tiger Fest with the Kids For Tigers initiative, she reflected, “When young voices rise together, something shifts. The tiger becomes more than a symbol, it becomes a reminder that forests birth rivers, hold our soil, steady our climate, and quietly protect every breath we take.”
She further added “These children understand something many adults forget: clean air, clean water, healthy soil and a safe climate are not luxuries they are life itself.”
She also mentioned “Saving the tiger is not about saving a species alone. It is about protecting the delicate web of life that protects us.”
Dia Mirza is a dedicated advocate for conservation, having collaborated with the Sanctuary Nature Foundation for nearly twenty years. She has a special passion for the Kids For Tigers program.
In addition to her work with Sanctuary, she is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme and serves as an Advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals established by the UN Secretary-General. Mirza is also an Ambassador for the Wildlife Trust of India and actively promotes climate action and biodiversity preservation as an eco-investor and committed activist.
