Mumbai Climate Week 2026 began on an inspiring and hopeful note, with actor, producer and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza helping set the tone for the conversations ahead.
Held in Mumbai on 17 February 2026, the summit brought together climate leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and grassroots changemakers from across India and the Global South — all united by a shared concern for the planet’s future.
Taking the stage at the inaugural session, Dia Mirza brought both urgency and empathy to the discussion. She moderated a powerful panel titled Rewriting the Climate Future, alongside Rajiv Shah, President of The Rockefeller Foundation, and Mridula Ramesh, founder of the Sundaram Climate Institute.
The conversation moved beyond abstract targets and statistics, focusing instead on real communities, real challenges and the need for practical, inclusive solutions.
Speaking passionately about why such platforms matter, Dia Mirza said, “Climate action is no longer a distant policy conversation. It is about the air we breathe, the water we depend on, and the dignity of communities already living with climate impact. Platforms like Mumbai Climate Week create the courage and collaboration we need to turn urgency into accountability and innovation into inclusion.”
Later in the day, Dia Mirza introduced the team behind The Earthshot Prize, the global environmental award founded by Prince William to fast-track innovative solutions to the world’s environmental crises.
Delegates were also shown a special video message from Prince William, who underscored the importance of global partnerships and acknowledged India’s growing leadership in climate innovation.
Organised by Project Mumbai in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the three-day summit is being held at the Jio World Cultural Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex.
Discussions span renewable energy, electric mobility, urban planning and climate resilience, while parallel city-wide events aim to involve citizens more directly.
