Actor Dia Mirza has responded strongly to allegations made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding videos she shared related to tree felling in Kancha Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister had accused the actress of posting fake and AI-generated content in support of student protests against the destruction of ecologically sensitive land.
Dia, who is known for her environmental activism, took to social media to refute the claims and urged the CM to verify the facts before making such accusations.
On Sunday, Dia expressed her disappointment in a social media post, writing, "The CM of Telangana posted a tweet yesterday. He made certain claims about the situation at Kancha Gachibowli. One of them was that I had used FAKE AI-generated images/videos in support of the protest by students to protect biodiversity on the 400 acres of land the government wanted to auction."

She further clarified, "This is an absolutely false statement. I have not posted a single image or video that is AI-generated. The media and the Telangana government should verify their facts before making such claims."
For the unaware, the controversy stems from the ongoing protests at the University of Hyderabad, where students are fighting against plans to develop an IT park and urban infrastructure on a 400-acre stretch of ecologically sensitive land.
The protests have gained significant attention, with many celebrities voicing their concerns about the environmental impact and showing support for the students.
The matter is currently being heard in both the Telangana High Court and the Supreme Court. In the wake of the controversy, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed officials to appeal for an investigation into the alleged AI-generated videos, which reportedly featured deer and peacocks on the Gachibowli land.

The CM’s office also stated that several celebrities had fallen victim to such fabricated clips, and the issue has escalated into a national debate. Furthermore, Revanth Reddy has called for the strengthening of the state's cybercrime department to tackle the growing issue of misinformation.
This clash highlights the intersection of environmental activism, politics, and the challenges of navigating misinformation in the digital age.
