Snapshot AI
  • Dhurandhar surpasses Rs 1200 crore globally, beating KGF Chapter 2's earnings.
  • Ranveer Singh stars as an intelligence agent in a high-stakes Karachi mission.
  • Dhurandhar still tops Indian box office despite new releases.

Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar has hit a towering box office milestone. On Day 31 of its release, the film crossed the Rs 1200 crore mark at the global box office, firmly placing itself among the biggest Indian cinematic successes of all time.

Achieving this feat in exactly one month, the film has now become only the fifth Indian title to enter the Rs 1200 crore worldwide club.

This landmark achievement also means Dhurandhar has officially overtaken the lifetime global collections of KGF Chapter 2, which had long stood as one of the highest-grossing Indian films internationally. The development marks a significant moment for Hindi cinema, especially in the action-thriller space, where sustained theatrical runs are often rare in the post-pandemic era.

Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, Dhurandhar sees the actor stepping into the role of Hamza, an Indian intelligence operative navigating a high-stakes undercover mission in Karachi.

The film features a strong ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan, each playing key roles that add weight to the film’s tense, politically charged narrative. Director Aditya Dhar has been widely praised for crafting a fast-paced thriller that balances spectacle with narrative urgency.

On the domestic front, Dhurandhar continues to display remarkable staying power. During its fifth weekend alone, the film collected over Rs 33 crore net in three days. This pushed its total domestic net collection to approximately Rs 772.25 crore, while the gross figure in India stands at around Rs 926.7 crore after 31 days, according to early estimates. Notably, the film has managed to retain the top position at the Indian box office despite competition from fresh releases such as Avatar: Fire and Ash, Ikkis, and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.

Trade analysts attribute the film’s sustained momentum to strong word-of-mouth and repeat audience viewings. While a routine weekday dip is expected, Dhurandhar’s overall dominance at the domestic box office remains largely unchallenged.

Internationally, the film has also delivered an impressive performance, earning approximately $31 million in overseas markets. This figure is particularly striking given that Dhurandhar did not release in the Middle East due to a reported ban, which is estimated to have cost the film at least $10 million in potential earnings. Even so, the worldwide gross currently stands at about Rs 1207 crore.

With this achievement, Dhurandhar now inches closer to the next major benchmark set by RRR, which earned around Rs 1230 crore globally. As its theatrical run continues, industry watchers are keen to see just how much further Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster can go.
