The excitement around Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s upcoming espionage thriller Dhurandhar: The Revenge has reached a fever pitch even before its theatrical release. The makers unveiled the film’s trailer a few hours ago, and it quickly began trending across social media platforms. Riding on the massive buzz generated by the trailer, advance booking for the film’s paid previews on March 18 has officially opened, and the response has been overwhelming.
Ticket prices for premium shows in major metropolitan cities such as Mumbai and Delhi have already crossed the Rs 2000 mark. According to listings on BookMyShow, ticket prices for preview shows start at around Rs 300 for basic seats and climb all the way up to Rs 2000 for the most premium formats and prime theatre locations. Despite the steep prices, several theatres have already started filling up rapidly, indicating strong anticipation among audiences.
Early sales figures also reflect the film’s strong momentum at the box office. As reported by 123 Telugu, Dhurandhar 2 managed to sell more than 40,000 tickets across the PIC theatre chains — PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis — within just a few hours of advance bookings opening. These early sales alone have generated close to Rs 5 crore in revenue, an impressive number considering that these bookings are only for the paid preview shows.
Interestingly, Hyderabad has emerged as the city with the highest number of ticket sales so far. The strong response from the Nizam region suggests that the big-budget Bollywood spectacle is attracting audiences well beyond the Hindi-speaking belt, strengthening its pan-India appeal.
What makes these numbers even more significant is that they only represent preview bookings. Advance bookings for the film’s official opening day on March 19 and the subsequent weekend have not yet begun. Industry observers believe the ticket sales could surge even further once those bookings open, potentially pushing the film towards a massive opening.
The film was initially expected to clash with Yash’s much-anticipated action drama Toxic. However, the makers of Toxic recently announced a postponement of the film’s release after uncertainties around the US–Iran conflict affected its planned Middle East rollout.
With the clash now avoided, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is set to enjoy a solo release window, further boosting its box office prospects.
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film features an ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, and Rakesh Bedi. The high-octane espionage drama will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam on March 19.
