  • No official confirmation yet, but fans are excited about the possible reunion

Director Aanand L Rai and actor Dhanush, who recently collaborated on Tere Ishk Mein, marking their third project together over the years, are reportedly gearing up to reunite once again for a new film.

According to a source cited by Hindustan Times, Aanand and Dhanush will be joining hands for a period action romance. The source stated, “After the success of Tere Ishk Mein, Aanand L Rai and Dhanush are working on a large-scale period action romance. While the film will retain the emotionally-driven storytelling synonymous with Aanand, it marks a genre shift from the pair’s earlier intense romantic dramas. Mounted on a grand scale, it is a project they are quite excited about.”

Aanand L. Rai and Dhanush have previously collaborated on two other popular films — Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re. If the latest reports are true, this upcoming venture will mark their fourth collaboration.

While there has been no official confirmation from the makers yet, the possibility of the duo reuniting has already sparked excitement among fans who have long admired their on-screen collaborations.

Meanwhile, Tere Ishk Mein featured Dhanush opposite Kriti Sanon and was an intense love story revolving around Mukti and Shankar, set against the backdrop of Benaras. The film went on to earn over Rs 100 crore at the Indian box office. However, shortly after its release, Tere Ishk Mein faced stiff competition from Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which dominated the box office during the same period.

Moneycontrol’s review of Tere Ishk Mein noted, "What truly holds the film together is the dedication of its two lead actors. Dhanush brings sincerity to Shankar’s journey and clearly puts in the effort to show the emotional shift in his character. His portrayal as a volatile student and later as an Air Force pilot feels noticeably different, which speaks to his range. However, it is Kriti Sanon who leaves the strongest impact. As Mukti, she is confident, restrained, and emotionally convincing."

On the work front, Dhanush will next be seen in the tentatively titled D54, where he stars alongside Mamitha Baiju. Director Aanand L Rai, meanwhile, has a packed lineup this year, beginning with Tu Yaa Main, which stars Adarsh Gaurav and Shanaya Kapoor.
