Producer Boney Kapoor has officially acquired the remake rights of the Tamil political satire Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil (TTT) for Hindi and other North Indian languages.
According to a source quoted by Mirror Now, Kapoor watched the film during a recent visit to Coimbatore, where he was attending the Celebrity Cricket League. The film, which released during Pongal, reportedly made a strong impression on the veteran producer.
As the source revealed, “Boney Kapoor saw the film in a theatre in Coimbatore while he was there for a Celebrity Cricket League. TTT was a Pongal release. He loved the film and approached the producers.”
Further details suggest that the discussions progressed soon after. Reports indicate that the key conversation took place in Chennai last week, coinciding with a success party organised by the makers of Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil following its positive reception.
Boney Kapoor discovered the film earlier this year during a visit to Coimbatore for the Celebrity Cricket League. While in the city, he caught Thailaivar Thambi Thalimaiyil at a local theatre. According to sources, the producer was struck by the film’s storytelling, performances, and the way it seamlessly blended political commentary with humour. Impressed by what he saw, he reached out to the film’s producers soon after the screening to convey his interest in securing the remake rights.
Following these talks, the deal was successfully closed with Mr Kannan Ravi. When contacted, Boney Kapoor confirmed that he has acquired the remake rights but chose to remain tight-lipped about future plans. The producer acknowledged the development, stating that he had acquired the rights, but added that he couldn’t say any more details for now.
Directed by Nithish Sahadev, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is a rooted Tamil political satire set in a village. The story revolves around a panchayat leader who finds himself in an unusual predicament when a wedding and a funeral are scheduled on the same day.

The film features Jiiva in the lead role, alongside Thambi Ramaiah, Ilavarasu, and rising actor Prathana Nathan in pivotal roles. Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil hit theatres on January 15, 2026, and has since received a positive response for its humour, social commentary, and grounded storytelling.
