Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan recently addressed a fan question about whether Border 2 will release in Pakistan during a candid Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on X (formerly Twitter), offering a thoughtful yet diplomatic reply that underscores the film’s historical roots and cross-border appeal. (Border 2 is set to hit theatres on January 23, 2026, over the Republic Day weekend.)
During his #VarunSays question on X (formerly Twitter), Varun was asked about several things, including his daughter Lara and, of course, his next film, Border 2. One fan asked, "@Varun_dvn #varunsays bhai apki border 2 Pakistan me kab release hogi aur me tara singh ka bht bada fan hu unko mera salam kehna." The fan inquired if the film would be released in Pakistan. He also mentioned that he was a big fan of Sunny Deol's character, Tara Singh, and asked to send his regards.
Varun replied, "#border 2 is a film based on the 1971 war and some true events around that. I’m sure sunny sir ke pakistan mein bhi fan hain #varunsays."
Varun didn’t directly confirm whether Border 2 will secure a theatrical release in Pakistan, but his remarks hinted that the film’s story and spirit could resonate with audiences regardless of nationality — especially given Sunny Deol’s strong fanbase. The question arises amid ongoing debates and bans around certain Indian films in neighbouring markets, yet Border 2 remains positioned as a major patriotic drama whose themes extend from military sacrifice to national unity.
While responding to a range of fan queries during the AMA, Varun also shared insights into his enthusiasm for working with Sunny Deol and his co-stars, including Diljit Dosanjh and Ahaan Shetty, on a project as ambitious as Border 2. He highlighted that a war story like this requires collective effort — Army, Navy, and Air Force — and of course the one-man army Sunny Deol.

The film — directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Nidhi Dutta along with T-Series and others — is a franchise continuation of the beloved Border (1997), a landmark in Indian war cinema.
