Subhash Ghai embarks on a bold new journey as Mukta Arts launches the cutting-edge SGM Animation and Gaming Studio, signalling a fresh chapter in Indian entertainment. The announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of Whistling Woods International and 47 years of Mukta Arts, making October 24, 2025, a landmark day.

With the opening of SGM Animation and Gaming Studio, a state-of-the-art creative centre that signifies Mukta Arts' audacious foray into the future of entertainment, Indian cinema's most adored performer, Subhash Ghai, has begun an exciting new chapter in his storied career.

The announcement was made on October 24, 2025, a historic day that also marks the 20th anniversary of Whistling Woods International (WWI), Subhash Ghai's internationally renowned film school that has trained thousands of professionals in the industry, and the 47th anniversary of Mukta Arts.

The new endeavour is a vision that bridges the gap between Ghai's rich cinematic history and the potential of digital storytelling, going beyond simple business expansion.

Located in Mumbai, SGM Animation and Gaming Studio will specialise in developing innovative, story-driven projects that blend artistry, technology, and Indian cultural identity.

Reflecting on his five-decade-long journey, Ghai shared: “I started telling stories on the big screen since 1975 with Kalicharan and started story with musical motion picture like karz since 1978. Thereafter, most of our films made many blockbusters and started audio video studio with taal in 2000. Then I Went for corporatisation with public sector to set up a world class Whistling Woods International and groomed 3000 students on various sectors of filmmaking till date.”

The veteran filmmaker continued, “Now I see a great future of Indian storytelling in animation and gaming for my students. We did our research work. So we are setting up SGM animation and gaming studio for small and big screen with great new stories coming from mukta archive. My heartiest thanks to Rahul Puri and Chaitanya Chichlikara for supporting this new venture internationally with a deeper vision.”

The studio's creative base is its greatest asset. It makes use of Mukta Arts' extensive collection of 44 films and 500 short films as well as a network of more than 300 animation experts, many of whom are proud World War I alums who are currently making a name for themselves in the entertainment sector.

Subhash Ghai hopes to combine world-class innovation with India's storytelling heritage with SGM Animation and Gaming, bringing traditional tales to life as contemporary animated and interactive experiences.
