Veteran filmmaker and educationist Subhash Ghai recently shared a truly proud and heartfelt moment after receiving an invitation from the President of India to the Republic Day ‘At Home’ Reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
For the filmmaker, the invite, coming on the eve of 26th January, was more than a personal accolade—it was a recognition of a lifetime dedicated to cinema, education, and contributing to a “Viksit Bharat.”
Reflecting on the honour, Subhash Ghai shared his thoughts on Instagram, writing, “I felt honoured when I got an invitation yesterday from the Hon’ble President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan for the eve of 26th January At Home Reception. I feel it’s a compliment to a filmmaker for 50 years and an educationist for 25 years — for sincere contribution towards a Viksit Bharat. I thank you all for this honour to me and my team, who pledge to continue their contribution towards nation building. Feel blessed.”
For Subhash Ghai, the recognition is not just his own—it belongs to the entire team that has been part of his journey. Across five decades in Indian cinema, he has created films that have left a lasting impression on audiences, while also mentoring generations of young talent through his educational initiatives.
His institutions have nurtured countless students, shaping the future of Indian cinema and the performing arts.
The filmmaker describes the moment as one of both pride and humility, seeing it as a reflection of the wider role that cinema and education play in nation-building. “This invite honours not just my personal journey, but the larger contribution of storytelling and learning to our country,” he notes, underscoring his belief that creative work can have a meaningful impact beyond entertainment.
