The much-anticipated film Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kriti Sanon, has reportedly received a tentative release window. According to the latest reports, fans may not have to wait much longer, as the makers have reportedly locked September 2026 for the film’s theatrical release.
As per a report by Mid-Day, Cocktail 2 is expected to arrive in cinemas six months after Shahid Kapoor’s big-screen debut in ‘O’ Romeo’, which is scheduled for release in February 2026.
According to reports, the decision was made to guarantee that both movies have enough time and space to do well at the box office.
According to the report, the producers wanted to keep a comfortable interval between the releases because Shahid Kapoor will appear in two very different personas. This would prevent one performance from overpowering the other and give viewers ample time to fully comprehend each character.
A source quoted in the report stated, “The gap was very consciously planned. O’ Romeo and Cocktail 2 are very different films, and no one wanted them stepping on each other’s toes. Six months gives Shahid the space to arrive with a new energy and image. From a trade point of view, it makes sense.”
The source further added, “Audiences need time to move on from one character before embracing the next. September gives Cocktail 2 its own identity.”

Meanwhile, Cocktail 2 is said to be nearing completion, with the project firmly in its final stages. Sources close to the film told Mid-Day that the edit is largely in place, and the makers are now focusing on fine-tuning the soundtrack.
The original Cocktail, released in 2012, starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty, and went on to become a popular film, setting high expectations for the sequel.
