Priyanka recently opened up on a podcast about how she and husband Nick Jonas were “forced” to announce Malti’s birth to the public while their premature baby was still in a precarious condition, and Samantha has now praised her courage in speaking openly about the experience.
Responding to a clip from Priyanka’s interview, Samantha reshared it on her Instagram stories and commended her honesty. She wrote: “So beautiful. Thank you, @priyankachopra. Your honesty is powerful. Loved this interview.” Her reaction was widely seen as supportive, highlighting empathy between actresses across different film industries.
Speaking on Jay Shetty’s podcast, she described how the couple received a message indicating that news outlets were about to publish the information, leaving them little choice but to announce before they were emotionally ready. Priyanka said they had hoped to control the narrative themselves but circumstances forced their hand.
“We were told that she’s (Malti) coming (at) 27 weeks. I just shut down. And we got a text saying her birth is gonna be put out. We were kind of forced into announcing her birth. We weren’t ready ‘cause we didn’t know what would happen with her,” she said.
Priyanka, who welcomed Malti via surrogacy in January 2022, revealed that their daughter arrived prematurely at just 27 weeks and spent a prolonged period in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
“It was such a personally traumatic time. But somehow, because we were in and out of the hospital, I remember it leaked, and we got a text saying that her birth is gonna be put out by the papers, that if we don't, they are going to in three hours. So we were kind of forced into announcing her birth.”
Priyanka was most recently seen in Prime Video’s The Bluff. Meanwhile, Samantha was last seen in the 2023 films Shaakuntalam and Kushi, as well as in the 2024 web series Citadel: Honey Bunny.
