As per earlier reports, this year’s Republic Day parade will feature a special tableau from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B Ministry) dedicated to Indian cinema. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been entrusted with the responsibility of designing this unique tableau. Now, according to the latest updates, Sanjay has brought in celebrated singer Shreya Ghoshal for a specially-composed song to accompany the presentation.

According to Hindustan Times, the ace filmmaker has conceptualised the theme as ‘Bharat Gatha’ and has roped in Shreya Ghoshal to render a specially-composed song for the tableau.

This marks the first time that an Indian filmmaker has been given the honour of representing Indian cinema at the nation’s most prestigious ceremonial event. Sources cited by Hindustan Times reveal that to bring his vision of Bharat Gatha to life, Bhansali decided to collaborate with Shreya Ghoshal.

The singer will perform a specially composed song that will accompany the tableau as it moves down Kartavya Path on January 26.

The source stated, “Shreya Ghoshal has rendered a specially composed song for Bharat Gatha, the Republic Day tableau conceptualised by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Music has always been integral to Bhansali’s storytelling, and whenever he and Shreya come together, the result carries a rare emotional depth. Their collaboration has consistently created moments that stay with audiences, and this time, that musical magic will unfold on Kartavya Path, becoming a part of the Republic Day Parade itself."

According to the source, the tableau has been designed keeping in mind the I&B Ministry’s vision of presenting Indian cinema not just as a form of entertainment, but as an extension of India’s rich civilisational storytelling legacy.

For context, Shreya Ghoshal made her singing debut at the age of 20 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas in 2002, lending her voice to the song Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka. Since then, the filmmaker-singer duo have collaborated on several blockbuster projects including Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently occupied with his next grand cinematic venture, Love & War, starring Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, and Ranbir Kapoor, which is being awaited with immense anticipation.
