Aditya Dhar's directorial and Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar is enjoying a successful run at both the national and international box office. The film has bagged around USD 15 million abroad, with an additional USD 8.75 million in the second week.
According to a trade website, after an already amazing first week, the second week saw a 35% increase, bringing the total foreign gross to over USD 15.225 million (Rs. 138 crore). The total box office receipts, including Rs. 527 crore from India, are approximately Rs. 665 crore.
There is a global benchmark of Rs. 1000 crore, but given the current trajectory of the picture, it will approach, if not surpass, it in the home market.
In certain areas, the second week's statistics set an all-time record for Bollywood films, while in others, they came in second. Record numbers were recorded in Australia and the United States.
Saiyaara set the record earlier this year, and the United Kingdom nearly beat it. They rank third overall, after Jawan (USD 10 million) and Pathaan (USD 9.10 million), both of which made significant contributions from the Middle East after their recent releases. Dhurandhar easily wins without the Middle East.
With USD 6.30 million, the US is Dhurandhar's largest market. It will undoubtedly reach the USD 10 million threshold and possibly challenge Pathaan for the top slot. With an impressive AUD 3.20 million, Australia is on track to overtake Animal for the record.
In a similar vein, Canada is excellent at CAD 3.88 million and has the potential to surpass Animal. The UK got off to a poor start last week but has since picked up speed. All in all, the major markets are booming, and lesser markets are performing exceptionally well as well.
