Actor Rajpal Yadav has responded to recent industry support, clarifying a misunderstanding involving fellow actor Sonu Sood. He stated that there is no shame in seeking work, but also emphasised that he does not constantly need to pursue roles.
Speaking to the SCREEN after being granted interim bail in his long-running Rs 9 crore cheque-bounce case, Rajpal Yadav thanked the film fraternity for standing by him during his time in Tihar Jail and addressed the public commentary around Sonu Sood’s earlier remarks about offering him work.
During the interaction, Rajpal said, “Please get over the misconception that I need to keep asking for work. And there is no shame in asking for work. I live through my job, cinema is my passion, and I work in such a way that I get four times more work. I work even on vacations. Work doesn’t find me, it has lived with me for the last 11 years.”
The exchange stemmed from an earlier statement by Sonu Sood, who had publicly expressed his support for Rajpal Yadav during his legal trouble and mentioned that he would help him with work.
After Rajpal Yadav’s remarks circulated in the media, Sonu Sood responded in an covrsati saying, “Happy for him. I didn’t say he needs work. I said “Sign him and pay advances because he deserves it”.
While the actor was lodged in Tihar Jail, several figures from the film industry, including Sonu Sood and Salman Khan, reportedly came forward to offer financial support.
Director Priyadarshan disclosed that he urged the producers of his upcoming film to pay Rajpal a fee higher than his usual rate, attributing the actor's troubles to his "poor education." In response, the actor criticized the filmmaker for his remark.
