Tensions in the Middle East has been escalated with several Indian nationals stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Preity Zinta was among the celebrities who were stuck but she has now safely returned to India just in time for Holi celebrations.
Preity took to her Instagram and shared a series of pictures with her family from her Holi celebration. Sharing the pics, she penned in the caption, “So grateful to be back home in Mumbai after a very stressful trip from across the world. Even more grateful to be safe & to be able to celebrate Holi.”
The actress added, “It’s been a rough couple of weeks for people around the world and my heart and prayers are for all those people that are suffering and away from their families and in need of security, food, love and warmth. I pray to God to look after all of you.”
Preity concluded her post by wishing, “Happy Holi to all my fellow Indians and to everyone else celebrating Holi. Loads of love and light to you all.”
Preity posed for a selfie with her husband Gene Goodenough, mom Nilprabha Zinta and other family members.
In addition to Preity Zinta, a number of celebrities are stuck in the Middle East, including Lara Dutta, the mother of Malaika Arora, and the son of Abhijeet Bhattacharya. Celebrities like Sonam Chauhan and Esha Gupta had already safely returned home.
Tensions in the area sharply increased when Israel launched what it called "preventive" missile attacks against Iran on February 28, causing tremendous explosions to shock Tehran. The strikes occurred in the midst of mounting concerns of a wider military conflict in the Middle East and increased tension between the United States and Iran over a possible nuclear deal.
On the work front, Preity is gearing up to make a comeback with Lahore 1947. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Sunny Deol will play the lead, along with Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh in supporting roles.
Sunny's actor-son, Karan Deol, will also star in the period drama. Backed by Aamir Khan, Lahore 1947 is set during the time of the Partition of India and is slated for release this Independence Day.
