According to a complaint filed with the Sangli district police on Wednesday evening, Palash has been accused of cheating a Sangli-based man of Rs 40 lakh.

The complaint states that Vaibhav Mane, a film financier by profession and a childhood friend of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, was introduced to Palash Muchhal by Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, during the composer’s visit to Sangli.

As per The Times of India, the complainant has alleged that Palash accepted money from him for the production of a film but failed to return the amount after the project did not take off. Vaibhav Mane reportedly submitted documents and transaction details along with his complaint to the Superintendent of Police.

The complaint states that Palash approached Vaibhav with a proposal to invest in a film called Nazariya. He reportedly promised the financier a quick release on an OTT platform and a fast return on investment. After several meetings, the complainant stated that by March 2025, he had invested a total of Rs 40 lakh in the project.

However, even after a long wait, the film allegedly remained unfinished. The complaint notes that no repayment was made and that Vaibhav did not receive any satisfactory replies from Palash when he repeatedly asked for his money back.
