However, Mona Singh’s upcoming film, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, promises to embody a similarly insane, irreverent universe with a modern twist, is slated to bring the same dark humour back to the big screen years later.
The cult classic and the new movie are directly compared by Mona Singh, who has experience in both mainstream and experimental storytelling. Speaking from personal experience, Mona emphasised how Happy Patel also embodies the spirit that made Delhi Belly famous.
Mona recalled the reactions that Delhi Belly had received and said, “They were all giving one words for Delhi Belly, woh saare words Happy Patel ke liye apt hai, dark hai, quirky hai, off beat hai, sab kuch hai. And I so enjoyed being a part of this mad, crazy universe.”
The actress’ comment highlights what viewers can anticipate from Happy Patel: a movie that embraces turmoil, unorthodox humour, and characters who are on the edge. The film is a welcome break from formula-driven cinema since, like Delhi Belly, it thrives on its bold tone and surprising storytelling.
