After months of anticipation and excitement, the makers of Mirzapur: The Film have officially wrapped shooting on the highly anticipated cinematic adaptation of the hit crime drama franchise. The news, shared through social media by Excel Entertainment, signals the end of principal photography on the project that expands the gritty world of Mirzapur from OTT to theatres.

Mirzapur: The Film is one of the most awaited releases of 2026, following the breakout success of the Mirzapur web series on Amazon Prime Video. Excel Movies shared a video on Instagram and announced the same. "It's a wrap! #Mirzapur TheFilm. Video courtesy: Tushil Pujari," they wrote.

Created by Puneet Krishna and brought to the big screen by director Gurmmeet Singh, the film reunites fans with iconic characters from the beloved series, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Shweta Tripathi as Gajgamini “Golu” Gupta. Other key cast members such as Divyenndu (Munna Tripathi), Abhishek Banerjee (Compounder), and Rasika Dugal (Beena Tripathi) have also returned for the feature-length adaptation, alongside new entrants like Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan.

A celebratory video shared by the production house on Instagram featured a clapperboard marked “Mirzapur: The Film wrapped”, a milestone moment that was reshared by many of the cast and crew, underscoring the close-knit bond forged during filming. The wrap comes after extensive shoots in various locations and a series of behind-the-scenes glimpses that steadily fuelled fan excitement throughout the production cycle.

The original Mirzapur series — known for its intense storytelling, layered characters and raw portrayal of power and crime in Uttar Pradesh — first debuted on Amazon Prime Video in 2018 and has since become one of India’s most popular streaming dramas, with multiple seasons deepening its sprawling narrative. The decision to take the story to cinemas reflects both the franchise’s commercial success and its cultural impact on audiences across the globe.
