Bollywood singer and animal-welfare advocate Mika Singh has taken a heartfelt stand in the ongoing national conversation on stray dog management by pledging to donate 10 acres of his own land for canine welfare — a move that has garnered widespread appreciation amid intense public debate on the issue.

The appeal comes as the Supreme Court of India continues deliberations on how best to address the rising concerns related to stray dogs, including dog-bite incidents and effective population control. While some earlier court directives stirred public anxiety about large-scale relocation of street dogs, the bench has emphasised that any action must comply with the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023 and focus on scientific, humane solutions.

Mika took to X (previously known as Twitter) to request that the highest court avoid any measures that could negatively impact the welfare of stray dogs, reflecting worries about a possible judicial crackdown on street canines.“Mika Singh humbly appeals to the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India to kindly consider refraining from any actions that may adversely affect the welfare of dogs,” he wrote."I respectfully submit that I have sufficient land at my disposal and am fully prepared to donate 10 acres exclusively for the care, shelter, and welfare of dogs," singer added.

The singer’s proposal envisions a dedicated space where stray and abandoned dogs can receive proper shelter, medical care, food and protection in secure surroundings. His public appeal has sparked discussion online, with supporters saying it could set an example of private–public cooperation for animal welfare if governments and NGOs join hands to provide the necessary operational support.

Mika Singh has long been known for his outspoken advocacy on behalf of animal rights, and this latest initiative adds a significant philanthropic dimension to the broader debate on how to balance public safety with compassion for stray animals. As the Supreme Court continues its hearings, his offer has drawn attention to the potential role of individuals and communities in creating sustainable, humane solutions for India’s stray dog population.
