Kiran Rao undergoes surgery for appendix, thanks doctors and loved ones: "All ready to party into 2026"

Filmmaker Kiran Rao shared a health update after undergoing appendix surgery, thanking doctors, hospital staff, friends and family for their support. Posting photos from her hospital room, she said the experience reminded her to slow down and welcome 2026 with gratitude and optimism.

Film director Kiran Rao has recently provided a health update to her fans and followers. She thanked her loved ones for supporting her during her difficult times and posted a number of photos from her hospital room on social media, citing the "appendix."

She is now prepared to greet 2026 with optimism, mentioning the hospital, the physicians, the staff, and her close friends and family. The filmmaker shared a selfie and a picture from the hospital enjoying a healthy meal on her Instagram.

Alongside the pictures, she penned in the caption, “Here I was, all ready to party my way into 2026, when my appendix sent me a reminder to slow down, breathe deep, and give thanks.”

She then took a moment to mention the doctors, staff, Ira, the daughter of her ex-husband Aamir Khan, the modern medications that aided in the quick recovery, and her friends and family, "who mostly came around to laugh at my plumped lips - an allergic reaction, sadly they're back to normal and unglam now," she wrote in jest.

She continued in the caption, “Immense gratitude for: - modern medicine (still can’t understand how that whole 12mm dia appendix came out through a 10.5mm catheter, thank god I’m not a doctor), - Dr Kayomarz Kapadia and the whole surgical team, - Ira, Popeye and Shefali for tlc and hospital sleepover fun, - Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital’s super care.”

She further added, “my friends and family who mostly came around to laugh at my plumped lips - an allergic reaction, sadly they’re back to normal and unglam now…”

“Well, I’ve been discharged and I’m back home, ready to ease myself into the new year. 2025 has been good to me and mine, and here’s hoping 2026 will be kind, fun, full of love - AND BETTER AQI - for all,” she added.

Kiran’s daughter Ira reacted to her post dropping red heart emojis.
